The North Orange County Community College District (NOCCCD) is governed by a seven-member board of trustees. These trustees are elected by the public and are responsible for establishing policies that guide the district’s overall operations. NOCCCD includes Fullerton College, Cypress College, and North Orange Continuing Education (NOCE).
The election for the NOCE Student Trustee is now underway!
This is a key opportunity for students to elect a representative who will serve as the student body’s voice for the 2026–2027 academic year. The elected Student Trustee will advocate for student interests and act as a vital connection between the NOCE Board of Trustees and the student community.

Statement
My name is Yellckin Brenes. I am originally from Nicaragua and have lived in California since 2021. As a first-generation immigrant, I have faced many challenges, including cultural and language barriers, isolation, and the difficulty of navigating a new education system. These experiences have tested my resilience, but they have also helped shape who I am today: a friendly, compassionate, and determined person who believes deeply in the power of perseverance. NOCE has played a life-changing role in my journey. With the encouragement of committed teachers, support staff, administrators, and classmates, I strengthened my English skills, completed the ESL program, and found a sense of belonging that helped me overcome loneliness. This support empowered me to continue my education through technical classes and apply to Cypress College. Because of my experience, I strongly believe that every student—no matter their background—deserves access to opportunities that help them grow and succeed. If elected, I will advocate for better student resources, stronger communication, and a more inclusive environment. My goal is to ensure that every student feels supported, heard, and confident that no barrier is too great to overcome. I am committed to representing our diverse community and uplifting the voices of all NOCE students.
