Important Details About Parent-and-Child Classes:
Joyful Parenting, Developmental Movement, and Raising Thoughtful Children
Joyful Parenting, Developmental Movement, and Raising Thoughtful Children are courses taken by an adult student. In these courses only, the enrolled adult student is accompanied to class by their child(ren) to participate in learning activities for parents alongside their child(ren). Please note the following:
- Students can enroll in multiple sections of the same parent-and-child course within the semester or term. (For example, students can enroll in two or more sections of PARN 101, Joyful Parenting, during any term, such as the Spring or Summer Semester.)
- Want to learn how to use College Scheduler to self-register for multiple sections of the same class? Click here.
- The registered student in the class is the adult. The adult attendee can be a parent, grandparent, stepparent, foster parent, child’s caregiver, or other adult guardian.
- The registered student (adult) must accompany their child to Joyful Parenting, Developmental Movement, and Raising Thoughtful Children class meetings. Children are not to be dropped off and cannot attend alone. Note: Children cannot participate in any other in-person NOCE courses.
- Up to two children can attend class with each registered adult.
- The same adult is expected to attend each class meeting. If more than one adult from a household would like to attend class, each adult will need to be registered as a student in the class in order to attend.
- Consistent attendance is vital to allow adult students to experience everything the instructor has planned for students in the course. Consistent attendance also helps NOCE keep its classes open since student attendance is the basis by which NOCE receives funding for these tuition-free classes. Students may refer to the course syllabus regarding important attendance policies for parent-and-child class(es).
